Dr. Joshua Daniel is an optometrist who’s been helping patients see the world more clearly since graduating from the Indiana University School of Optometry in 2012. Over the past 13 years, he’s honed his skills in Ashland, KY—first at Visionworks, then for nine years at Tri-State Ophthalmology—where he treated everything from routine vision needs to complex ocular diseases. During that time, he also served as a clinical instructor for 4th-year optometry students, helping shape the next generation of eye doctors. Dr. Daniel has a special interest in ocular disease, particularly diabetic eye care, glaucoma, and—his personal favorite—dry eye management. His favorite part of the job? Solving problems that make a real difference in his patients’ everyday lives. That passion goes back to his own childhood, when his first pair of reading glasses changed everything—and sparked a lifelong love of optometry. Known for his laid-back but efficient style, Dr. Daniel works hard to create a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere where patients feel at ease and well cared for from start to finish. Outside the exam room, Dr. Daniel is a proud husband to his wife Abby and devoted dad to their two-year-old son, Max. These days, his hobbies mostly include playing “tickle monster,” racing Hot Wheels, and watching Bluey and Pixar movies on repeat. When the toys are put away and the house is (mostly) quiet, he and Abby love unwinding with a good sitcom—especially if it involves witty banter, ridiculous characters, or a rewatch of Parks and Rec for the hundredth time. No matter what the day looks like, he is happiest with his little family at his side. In the rare moments he gets to himself, Dr. Daniel enjoys all things nerdy—Marvel, Lord of the Rings, fantasy novels, and Nintendo. New to the Bristol area, Dr. Daniel and his family are excited to explore the outdoors and are always open to restaurant recommendations (especially if there’s a good hot dog involved). Fun fact: He’s currently developing a comic book series about a superhero optometrist who battles villains based on common eye diseases. (Spoiler: Dry Eye is definitely the supervillain.) Medium: Dr. Joshua Daniel is an optometrist with over a decade of experience, having graduated from the Indiana University School of Optometry in 2012. He spent 13 years practicing in Ashland, KY, treating everything from routine vision needs to complex ocular diseases. He also served as a clinical instructor for 4th-year optometry students. Dr. Daniel has a special interest in diabetic eye care, glaucoma, and dry eye management. He’s known for his laid-back, efficient approach and his commitment to creating a relaxed, welcoming environment for patients. Outside the office, he enjoys life with his wife Abby and their two-year-old son, Max—who keeps them busy with Hot Wheels, tickle games, and endless episodes of Bluey. A lifelong fan of Marvel, Lord of the Rings, fantasy novels, and Nintendo, Dr. Daniel is also working on a comic book series featuring a superhero optometrist who battles villains based on eye diseases. Also, I finally got everything submitted to Tennessee. Hopefully I'll be hearing back from them soon. Compared to Tennessee, Virginia was so easy I thought I was being punked.
